SELD Officers Make Exposure Visits to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa September 10-15, 2017

As part of the capacity building support to the Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD), Sindh Capacity Development Project (SCDP) organized exposure visits of two groups of SELD officers to the education departments and attached organizations of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. Altogether, 30 officers were nominated by SELD for the visits � 17 officers for Punjab and 13 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The visits were conducted from September 10-15, 2017. During the visits, the delegates were briefed about key reforms and initiatives for providing quality education in public and private schools in both provinces. The delegation that went to Punjab included three Regional Directors, seven District Education Officers and Additional Director NFE. The delegation held an introductory meeting with Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik, Secretary School Education Department, Government of Punjab. They were briefed about the key initiatives of the department including recruitment of about 70,000 educators purely on merit in a short time span of three months. They were further updated on curriculum development and use of technology for improved governance. The group also visited PMIU, where they were informed about the online M&E system, the provision of tablets to M&E officers with the facility to submit key information online, and the access of information to general public. The other organizations visited by the delegation included Quaid-e-Azam Academy of Educational Development, Punjab Examination Commission, Punjab Education Foundation, Curriculum and Textbook Board, Danish School and Center of Excellence Authority and Department of Literacy and NFBE. The delegation for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa consisted of 13 officers from SELD including three Regional Directors. The delegation met with Mr. Shahzad Bangash, Secretary, Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The officers also visited Independent Monitoring Unit of the department where they were briefed about their Online Action Management System. Other organizations visited included Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board, Elementary Education Foundation, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad, Provincial Institute of Teachers Education and Directorate of Curriculum and Teachers Education
