The School Management Committee or SMC of Government Boys Primary School, Veeharabad in Budhni village, Maripur, Kemari town, Karachi distributed school bags, uniforms and books to the deserving students. The in-kind donation was made possible through a generous contribution by a government charity and social welfare organization (Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal, Government of Sindh).

The SMCs have been trained, strengthened and empowered through rigorous efforts of Sindh Community Mobilization Program (CMP), a component of USAID-funded Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) that works with public schools in five towns of Karachi and seven districts of northern Sindh.

In this particular case too, the SMC of the primary school utilized the skills received through various trainings conducted by CMP. They were able to get in-kind contribution such as school uniforms, bags and books which were distributed among the deserving students. The school caters to the educational needs of about 100 boys and girls student.

CMP engages with SMCs and its sub-committees through capacity building and coordination to enable them in leading school-based interventions. The trained community members ensure availability of basic facilities at schools and also create conducive learning environment. They also play an important role in sustaining this development beyond the life of the program.
