Mr. Fayaz Ali Butt, Member of Provincial Assembly, Sindh graced the opening ceremonies of SBEP schools at Dadu accompanied by Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, Program Director, SBEP. The events held at Bali Shah and Sojhro Gorar villages on 12 and 13th January 2021 respectively. Around 1500 students of the vicinity will get benefit with the opening of these two schools.

Yesterday on 28-11-2020, along with PMIU Engineer made a surprise visit of SBEP under construction schools in Karachi i.e. GBPS Weehrabad, Kemari & GBPS Gulistan Colony, Layari, Karachi. Also inspected the construction activities and shown dissatisfaction over slow pace of the progress and directed to the contractor to expedite the construction progress and to meet the deadline.

Today on 16th Nov.2020, completed the handing over ceremony of 51st State-of-the-Art Secondary School at Cattle Colony Malir Karachi. The students of Cattle Colony Karachi received a new school to advance their education needs in Pakistan under the long-running active partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Sindh government. The USAID Director for Sindh and Balochistan James Parys and Sindh Minister for Women Development Syeda Shehla Raza, who was the Chief Guest of the event, attended the inauguration ceremony at the Government Secondary School Cattle Colony in Bin Qasim Town, Karachi.

The SBEP has completed 1st phase of handing over of 7 schools out of 25 completed schools to EMOs. Aready 43 schools are with 7 reputable Education Management Organizations. In the second phase 7 more schools will be handed-over to reputable EMOs in district Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Dadu and Karachi. Secretary, School Education & Literacy Department, Mr. Ahmed Bakhsh Narejo accompanied by the Program Director, SBEP Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, Senior Director PPP node SELD, Mr. Dilawar Mangi, Director schools, District Education Officers (Primary/Secondary), Taluka Education Officers, Community notables, parents, teachers, students, and SBEP stakeholders also participated in the ceremonies. Health & Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) and Charter for Compassion (CFC) took over schools as the EMO to supervise the educational activities.

The Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP)opens more schools in QSK funded under USAID. It handed over the 48th School to the Education Management Organizations (EMOS) today. The ceremonies were held at the multipurpose halls of the GHS Arzi Bhutto & GMS Angh of Qamabr Shahdadkot District. The opening events were lead by the Program Director, SBEP Mr. Hafez Raza Shaikh & attended by the Senior Director PPP Node Mr. Dilawar Mangi, District Education Officer, (Secondary) QSK, Mr. Nawab Ali Khokhar, Director PPP Node Mr. Touseef Latif, and Chief of Party, Community Mobilization Program, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh.

The Program Director, SBEP, Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, Senior Director PPP Node Mr. Dilawar Mangi, Director Schools Larkana, Mr. Maqsood ul Haq Qureshi, District Education Officer, (Secondary) Larkana, Mr. Akhtar Hussain Korejo, Director PPP Node Mr. Touseef Latif and Chief of Party, Community Mobilization Program, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh attended the event.  Community notables, parents, teachers, students, and SBEP stakeholders also participated in the ceremony.

The Program Director SBEP with team members made a surprise visit to GHS Waryo Gabol, Gadap town, District Malir, Karachi today on 10th October 2020 to check the progress of work and ensure that the school is completed by 15th October, 2020.

Program Director Mr Hafeez Raza Shaikh along with Secretary SE&LD Mr Ahmed Bux Narejo, participated online in the 'Tripartite portfolio review meeting of USAID funded projects in Pakistan' held on October 1st, 2020 at Islamabad. The representatives from USAID, EAD, GoP, and Secretaries  /PDs of the programs attended the meeting virtually. Mr. Lila Ram from USAID, presented the progress report of the Sindh Basic Education Program. He informed the forum that out of of 106, construction of 71 schools have been completed, while the remaining are at various stages of construction. He further informed the forum that the progress of the program very much satisfactory and both the GoS & USAID team are working in a cordial environment for the betterment of program and the people of Sindh.

On 25-09-2020, Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, PD-SBEP along with a team PMIU Engineer & consultant Halcrow, Pakistan visited the following two (02) under construction school sites of M/s Shoukat Khan & Co under package 13B, District Jacobabad. I. GHS Mirpur Burrio, II. GHS Jacobabad. The physical progress was monitored & reviewed.

Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, Program Director, Sindh Basic Education Program, accompanied by the Engineering section of PMIU & the Consultant M/s Halcrow visited the under-construction schools of District Kashmore - Kandhkot to monitor the progress of GHS Colony No. 1, GHS Hassan Ali & Turab Ali Muhammadani of package 14 for the District.

Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh, Program Director - SBEP along with a team PMIU Engineer & Consultant Halcrow visited the following four under construction school sites of M/s Friends Enterprises in District Qambar-Shahdadkot 1) GHS Bambho Khan Chandio 2) GHS Wali dad Mugheri 3) GHS Noor Supro & 4) GHS Khairo Gadhi to review the physical progress.

The first day of the re-opening of schools, GHS Satabo, District Khairpur, managed by the Indus Resource Center (IRC), ensuring implementation of COVID -19 SOPs. SBEP modernizing education in Sindh.

The team observed progress on GHSS Sindhi Jama'at, Bin Qasim Town, and GHS Waryo Gabol, Gadap Town, Karachi, accompanied by the Halcrow & Contractor's teams.

Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh made a surprise visit to the Sindhi Jamat Society School, District Malir, Karachi today to observe the work advancement of the under-construction school. Mr. Raza instructed the contractor to speed up the progress. He also planted a tree there.

The Program Director, SBEP, Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh along with PMIU M&E and Procurement teams visited under construction schools including GBPS Sindhi Jamat Housing Society, Bin Qasim Town, Malir, and GBELS Waryo Gabol, Malir District Karachi, today on September 05, 2020. Mr. Sohail Shamim Siddiqui, Chief of Party (COP), Halcrow Pakistan (Consultant), and the representatives from contractor M/s Friends Enterprises were accompanied by the visiting teams.

Our Schools are ready, but before we get to the school, we must sure to disinfect the premises and reduce the exposure of COVID-19.  Government High School Tando Mir Ali, District Khairpur, managed by the Sukkur IBA University.

The Program Steering Committee (PSC) of the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) held it's 22nd meeting today at Karachi to review program progress. The Chairman PSC Mr. Ahmed Bux Narejo, Secretary, School Education & Literacy Department, presided the meeting. The Program Director SBEP Mr. Hafeez Raza Shaikh apprised the forum about the program. The forum appraised program progress discussed the issues and proposed the way forward.

The 21st Program Steering Committee (PSC) of Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) met to review program progress on 18th October 2019 at PMIU, Karachi. The chairman PSC Mr. Ahsan Ali Mangi, Secretary, School Education Department, presided the meeting. The Program Director SBEP Mr. Mushtaque Ahmed Soomro apprised the chair about USAID supported Sindh Basic Education Program being executed by School Education and Literacy Department (SE&LD), Government of Sindh. The progress of SBEP was reviewed, issues discussed; the way forward also was marked.

On July 23, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Director for Sindh and Balochistan Michael Hryshchyshyn and Secretary Education Qazi Shahid Parvez, participated in a Closing Ceremony of Sindh Capacity Development Project (SCDP) supported by USAID. The Government of Sindh’s officials, educationists and civil society representatives were present.
